Amplifying dreams take small or insignificant things and makes it stand out or draws more attention to it. This is often used when trying to show that an emotion is being exaggerated in an unknown situation.
For example, after seeing a post about someone backpacking through Europe for 6 months, one dreams about traveling to far off places all over the world one day.
Exaggeration and heightening are features of amplifying dreams as well as overemphasizing scenes in order to show them as vividly as possible. This might be done because they want to show their appreciation or they want to experience something differently than how they usually do.
People need the ability to amplify their own dreams because everyone will live more fulfilling lives when they are able to inflate their imaginations and reality.
Some people would say that this is merely an upside of dreaming and key to keeping in touch with fantasies. They think that because that amplification dreams are merely a form of wish fulfilment, or expressions about desires, it becomes important for us to keep the connection between fantasy and reality alive.
For example, someone who is clumsy may dream that they are wheelchair bound. A tired person’s dream could be being buried alive. One the other hand, a happy person might dream that they are riding a unicorn. A slow person could dream about being a statue covered with pigeon poop.
Dreams in which the dreamer loses their identity, is threatened with death, or has a seemingly inescapable fate are common in amplified dreams. Perhaps this happens because a person feels powerless to change the situation in real life and so the dream becomes a place to explore feelings of heighten anxiety.
